The anglers
were met with cloudy, cool weather, with
strong Northeast/East winds. By weigh-in
the clouds were replaced with sun and
temperatures in the low eighties. Rob and
Sandy had their establishment, Fletch’s
Reel’em Inn, open for coffee and use of the
restrooms.
Thirty one
teams competed in this event, bringing 111
Bass weighing a total of 254.92 pounds to
the scale. Local favorites on this lake
took first place honors with a 5-fish bag of
largemouth weighing 16.84 pounds. They were
followed closely by the 2005 Wisconsin Team
circuit “Top Team”, Chuck Postle and Cody
Landt, with a 5-fish limit totaling 16.03
pounds. Big Bass honors went to the team of
Nick Zimbauer and Travis Zimbauer, with a
4.48 pound bruiser.
This event
ended the 2006 qualifying tournament season
in the Bill’s Series. Bear’s Series ended 2
weeks ago. Those teams that finished the
season with 300 or more points in either
Series, qualify to compete in the 2006
Wisconsin Bass Classic, to be held on the
Lake Minocqua Chain, September 20-23. The
qualifying anglers will compete for a total
purse of over $17,000 in cash, making it one
of the largest single Bass tournament event
ever held in Wisconsin.
Congratulations to the team of Wes Haney and
Barry Rettke for winning the “Top
Team-2006.” title. Wes and Barry will
fish for free in the Bill's Series in 2007.
