A very
pleasant Wisconsin morning greeted the 48
teams as they arrived for the 4th
and final qualifying tournament for the East
Division of WTC. This was an extremely
important tournament for many teams who were
hoping to get a berth in the Wisconsin Bass
Classic-2009. Many of the teams needed an
exceptional finish to earn the 300 points
necessary in this Division to make the
Classic. Check out to total results, most
of those teams had the exceptional
tournament they needed to get them to the
Classic. Thirty eight teams managed to
reach the 300 point threshold and qualified
for the Classic from this Division.
Twenty one
teams brought a 5-fish tournament limit to
the scales. Totally, 167 bass were brought
in weighing a total of 391.71 pounds. The
team of Robert Flatten and Ed Dye made it “2
in a row” by bringing in the winning limit
of 17.13 pounds, after coming off their
previous win at Big Chetac. Bob and Ed also
brought in the Big Bass, a 4.50 pound
Smallie, to grab that honor also. Their
total effort earned them $1680.00.
Coming into
this tournament, there was also quite a
battle for Top Team of the Year. The team
of Steve Crotteau and Gregg Kizewski pulled
it out by taking 2nd Place in
this tournament and beating the team of Pat
Schlapper and Rob Yule by nearly 10 points.
Top Team honors win them 2 St. Croix rods
and free entry into the 4 qualifying
tournaments in the Bill’s Series in 2010,
worth $600.
Please take a moment to
review the total results of this tournament
and check out the YTD points to see how the
teams did in their quest to make it to the
Wisconsin Bass Classic. The Wisconsin Bass
Classic-2009 will be September 29th-October
3rd on the beautiful Minocqua
Chain of Lakes.
