The day was
warm and muggy.
The thirty
three teams struggled to catch 75 bass,
weighing a total of 170.29 pounds. The
Chetek Chain began showing the stress of all
the tournaments held on it this summer. The
bass were hard to get to bite. Only 5 teams
managed to bring a 5-fish limit to the
scales. First place honors went to the team
of Michael Hansen and Steve Hansen, who
brought a 5-bass limit to the scale,
weighing a total of 13.77 pounds. This
catch was worth $800. They also caught the
Big Bass that weighed 4.69 pounds and was
good for $310. They also fished out of a
Skeeter and that was worth another $500 for
a total winnings of $1610. The second place
team of Dewey and Theresa Nelson brought a
limit weighing 11.98 pounds to the scale.
This was worth $600. Third place honors
went to the team of Ron Kubin and Kathy
Kadlec with a limit weighing 11.59 pounds
and worth $500.
The winners
of the $50 gift certificate from Buzz’s Bar
& Grill, Mondovi, WI and $50 from Gunderson
Meats, Mondovi, WI went to the team of Jeff
Bauer and Jared Bauer for coming in “1st
out of the money.”
Randy Giertz
from Bill Distributing was also at the weigh
in to pass out hats, shirts and some coolers
to the competitors.
The battle
for Top Team is usually determined by the
heaviest 5-fish limit in the last
tournament. Not so this year. The first
and second place teams were not able to
bring in a limit, but the 3 fish brought in
by the team of Mike Mattis and Barry Rettke
were enough to secure the top spot. For
achieving Top Team-Bear’s Series for 2010,
Mike and Barry will each receive a St Croix
Avid rod of their choice and will also fish
the qualifying tournaments in the Series of
their choice in 2011, for free.

Results section on this website for all the
weights and winnings.
This
concludes the qualify tournaments in the
Bear’s Series for 2010. The top 30 teams in
this Series are eligible to go to the
Wisconsin Bass Classic-2010 in Minocqua,
September 7-11, 2010.
