Wisconsin Bass Classic V
September 19 thru September 23
Bass Classic V Standings

Wisconsin Bass Classic V will go into the books as the “best ever”.  Everything from the warm welcome we received from the Minocqua-Arbor Vitae-Woodruff community, the great hospitality of our host hotel, The Pointe Hotel and Suites, and our tournament site, Bosacki’s Boat House.

As is common of the fall in Wisconsin, the competitors were exposed to all kinds of weather, from cool and rainy to sunny and warm.  This change in weather did not seem to have a measurable amount of impact on a lot of the fish anglers found.  The competitors mentioned catching a lot of fish, even if for some, those fish were small.  As is usually the case in bass tournaments, some of the competitors managed to put it together and come away with money in their pockets.  All of them came away with many memorable happenings of Wisconsin Bass Classic V.

Forty three teams qualified to attend Classic V, through accumulating 300 points in the qualifying tournaments held in the two Series, Bill’s Series and Bear’s Series.  You can view the total points of each team in other sections of this website.  Forty of the forty three teams competed in Classic V.  In the two days of actual competition, these team brought a total of 215 bass, a combination of largemouth and smallmouth, weighing a total of 440.71 pounds to the scales.  The team of Jason Sosebee and Mike McEvoy managed to hold off the competition and beat the second place team of Dennis Rhead and Chad Maves by a mere 1 pound, to claim the winning prize of $5000.  The third place team of Larry Thorson and Rod Platson, leading the pack after Day 1, needed that fifth fish on day two, which never came.  The team of Jim Welch and Andy Siverling did not have a legal fish to weigh on Day 1.  Their strategy was to fish on Day 2 for that one “big bite”.  That bite came in the form of a 4.98 pound largemouth, capturing the Bosacki Big Bass Award, that was worth $1500.

Please take a moment to surf the Classic V sections of this site to view the “Classic in Photos” and check out the total results of the tournament for days 1 and 2.
