Bass Classic VI
Standings
Forty-nine
of the fifty-four teams that qualified for
this year’s Wisconsin Bass Classic made the
trip to Minocqua, Wisconsin to compete for
the largest cash payout of any regional
tournament championship ever held in
Wisconsin. As in the past Wisconsin Team
Circuit championships held in Minocqua, the
competitors were greeted with the friendly
hospitality this beautiful part of Wisconsin
offers, along with its’ exceptional fishery.
Historic,
Bosacki’s Boat House was again the official
tournament headquarters, and Harlan Bosacki
our host. As usual, Harlan and his staff
went out of their way to make our event a
memorable one for all the competitors. The
Pointe Hotel and Suites was our official
hotel for this event. Again, The Pointe
provided excellent lodging for the
competitors and their guests. The entire
staff at the Pointe was committed to making
our stay as comfortable as possible. This
year we welcomed Kurt’s Island Sports as the
official sports center for the Wisconsin
Bass Classic. Kurt and his staff provided
the anglers with latest information on the
Minocqua Chain along with stocking all the
“hot” baits for the Chain. You can “click”
on the logo’s of these “official” sites,
found throughout this website”, as well as
the site for the Minocqua-Arbor
Vitae-Woodruff Area Chamber of Commerce, to
get more information on this beautiful part
of Wisconsin and what it has to offer.
Those
competitors arriving on Tuesday, September
18 were treated to a pizza reception,
sponsored by Mark Rosencranz of Cars on
Broadway, Menomonie, WI., and held at
Bosacki’s Boat House. Over 40 pizzas were
devoured.
The
competitors competed for $20,190.00 in this
event. The forty-nine teams brought in a
total of 301 bass, weighing a total of
615.28 pounds. Wisconsin Bass Classic
Classic-2007 Champions are John Gubrud and
Dan Allen. John and Dan weighed in 10 Bass
for a total of 26.48 pounds. This effort
netted them a check for $6000.00. Second
Place honors went to the team of Robby
Newhouse and Mike Anselmo, earning them
$3500.00. Third Place was captured by the
team of Jason Sosebee and Mike McEvoy,
earning them $2000.00. Big Bass honors went
to the team of Scott Calkins and Mike
Calkins with a 4.42# bruiser, worth
$1100.00. In addition to the monies, these
winners also received Bass medallions,
provided by the Minocqua-Arbor
Vitae-Woodruff Area Chamber of Commerce.
Two of our “official” Classic sponsors also
donated monies to the Classic Pot. Harlan
Bosacki donated $500.00 to the Big Bass Pot,
plus gave $100.00 to every team that caught
a Bass over 4#. Kurt’s Island Sports
donated $200.00 to team who most improved
their standing on Day 2 over Day 1. This
$200.00 went to the team of Scott Sigsworth
and Chad Sigsworth who were in 42nd
place after on Day 1 and ended-up 26th
after Day 2. A special Director’s Award was
presented to the team of Jim Welch and Andy
Siverling, for giving up some of their
fishing time in a Bill’s Series qualifying
tournament, to help anther competitor
experiencing boat problems. All the
individual results, payouts and photos of
the entire event can be found in this
section of the website.
This year we
added a Calcutta, which auctioned every team
to the highest bidder. The highest bidder,
or owner, of the teams that placed in the
top 5 places and Big Bass, received a payout
for “owning” that team. This year’s
Calcutta paid $1965 .00 to the owners. The
complete Calcutta Card can be found on this
site.
Congratulations go out to all the teams that
managed to qualify for Wisconsin Bass
Classic-2007. and thank you to all of our
sponsors for making this Championship a
memorable event for everyone.
