Bass Classic VII Standings

Bass Classic VII Champions!!

Four beautiful autumn days, with sunshine and temperatures in the 70’s, greeted the 52 teams who qualified to fish at Wisconsin Bass Classic-2008.  In the seven years of Wisconsin Bass Classic, this is the first time the weather has been so consistent.  In the past we have experienced temperatures in the 80’s, sunny skies, rain, temperatures in the 30’s and even snow.  All in the same week.

This year the events associated with the Classic were more centralized.  The pizza reception and registration/rules meeting were held at The Pointe Hotel and Suites, our host hotel and the weigh-ins were held across the street at The Yacht Club.  Everything was nice and convenient.  The staff at both host sites went out of their way to make the competitors feel welcome.

As is typical of this great fishery, the Minocqua Chain, the fishing was exceptional.  The majority of the teams stated they caught a lot of fish through-out the week.  The team of Steve Crotteau and Greg Kizewski were crowned the 2008 Wisconsin Bass Classic champions with a 2-day limit of 10 beautiful Smallmouth, weighing almost 30 pounds.  This bag was worth the first-place prize of $6000.  They also bought themselves in the Calcutta, which was worth another $715.  The team of Pat Schlapper and Rob Yule took second with a total 10-fish limit of 25.79 pounds.  This finish was worth $4000.  Owners of the second-place team in the Calcutta were “The Corporation.”  “The Corp” earned $658 on their investment.  Big bass of the tournament was a 4.54 pound largemouth, caught by the third place team of Kevin Damrow and Cliff Palmer.  Third place and Big Bass of the tournament was worth $2861.  The third place team was purchased in the Calcutta by the team of Larry Felten and Mark Rosentretter for $40.  As owners, this $40 investment gained them a total of $830.

All of the results are posted on this site.  Also take a moment to view the Wisconsin Bass Classic in photos.

Plans are already in motion for Wisconsin Bass Classic-2009 to be held again on the Minocqua Chain of Lakes.  The host hotel will again be The Pointe Hotel & Suites, the weigh-in site will be The Yacht Club and the official host the 4-day event is the Minocqua-Arbor Vitae-Woodruff Area Chamber of Commerce.  Wisconsin Bass Classic-2009 is slated for September 30-October3, 2009.
