2011 marked our 10th
Wisconsin Bass Classic. For the past 10
years the Classic had been held in beautiful
Minocqua, Wisconsin. Everyone had a great
time over those years. The local Chamber of
Commerce, our host hotel, The Pointe, and
our weigh-in sites, Albee’s Yacht Club and
Slo’s Pub were all great. After 10 years we
felt a need for a change in the location of
the Classic.
2012 seems to be the time to
make the change. We have structured WTC
into a Northern and Southern Division. This
will be the first time the Classic will
include teams from all over Wisconsin. The
team winning Wisconsin Bass Classic-2012
will truly be State Champions.
The host site of Classic-2012
will be the beautiful City of Oshkosh,
Wisconsin, located where the Wolf River
joins Lake Winnebago. In addition to the
superb fishing, the area offers many
attractions for the visitors to see. To see
what Oshkosh has to offer, simply “click” on
their logo located through-out this website
to be connected with Oshkosh’s website.
Teams that fish all four
tournaments within a Division will
automatically qualify to fish The Wisconsin
Bass Classic-2012, State Championship. The
Classic tournament days will be September 6,
7 and 8, 2012. The tournament dates will be
preceded by practice days on September 4 and
5, 2012. All tournament waters will be
off-limits to the competitors starting
Monday, August 27, 2012 and ending at 5:00AM
on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Tournament waters include all
waters of the Wolf and Fox Rivers and Lake
Winnebago. The official launch and weigh-in
site will be Menominee Park, Oshkosh. The
host hotel will be the City Center Hotel in
Oshkosh.
Here is the format for the
tournament. On September 4th and
5th, the practice days, all teams
can fish all connecting waters to
Winnebago. On tournament days September 6th
& 7th, all teams can fish these
same waters. On September 8th,
the Top 20 teams in weight will fish in the
Championship Bracket and can fish all the
waters in the Winnebago, Fox and Wolf river
system. They will keep their weight from
the first 2 days. These teams are also
guaranteed a check for making this bracket.
The remaining teams will fish
the Consolation Bracket. Their first 2-day
weights will be zeroed. Their fishable
waters begin at the 1st railroad
bridge above the mouth of the Fox River,
where it enters Lake Winnebago. They can
fish all waters above the railroad bridge.
They cannot fish in Winnebago on the 3rd
day.
Specific times for the
various events at the Classic will be sent
to the anglers in August, 2012.
Twenty percent of the entry
fees in each qualifying tournament go into
the Classic Pot. This Pot is used to pay 1st,
2nd and 3rd place in
the Championship Bracket. There is no entry
fee for the Classic. There will be a $150
per team optional side-pot that will be used
to pay other than the Top 3 places and the
Consolation Bracket. There will also be a
$10 Big Bass Pot and a Calcutta.
If both Divisions have full
fields in the qualifying tournaments, there
will be $12,000 in the Classic Pot. 1st
Place would pay $6000, 2nd Place
would pay $4000 and 3rd Place
would pay $2000.
Because of the
status(Wisconsin Team Champions) and monies
awarded for this event, first through third
place medal teams may be required to take a
polygraph test, plus two other randomly
selected places. This will be conducted at
the end of the tournament.
Hope to see you at Wisconsin Bass
Classic-2012. |
